TMSL vs TINT vs Techno India University: Fees, Placements, Cutoff & Which to Choose

TMSL vs TINT vs Techno India University: B.Tech fees, WBJEE CSE cut-offs, seats and placements compared, and which Techno college to choose for your rank.

Techno Main Salt Lake (TMSL), Techno International New Town (TINT) and Techno India University (TIU) all belong to the Techno India Group, all fill B.Tech seats through WBJEE and JEE Main, and two of them sit almost next to each other in Salt Lake Sector V. Yet their fees, cut-offs and placement records are quite different. This comparison uses the figures each institute has published in its WBJEE institute profile, so you can decide which one fits your rank and budget.

Quick answer

  • TMSL is the hardest to get into and the cheapest of the three on a counselling seat (about ₹4.02 lakh for the B.Tech), with the best reported average package (₹7.5 LPA in 2023).
  • TINT has the most seats (300 in CSE alone), so it is reachable for a much wider range of WBJEE ranks, with an average package of ₹5 LPA in 2024.
  • TIU is a private university rather than a MAKAUT college, with a smaller intake, a B.Tech fee of ₹6.32 lakh and an average package of ₹4 LPA in 2022.

TMSL vs TINT vs TIU: key differences

Type and affiliation

  • TMSL: engineering college affiliated to MAKAUT, set up in 2001 as Techno India, Salt Lake. CSE, Electrical and Food Technology are NBA accredited.
  • TINT: engineering college affiliated to MAKAUT, set up in 2005 as Techno India College of Technology. NAAC accredited in 2024.
  • TIU: private university set up in 2012 under a West Bengal Act; recognised by the UGC and awards its own degrees.

Location

  • TMSL: EM-4/1, Sector V, Salt Lake, near Wipro More and the Sector V metro station.
  • TIU: EM-4, Sector V, Salt Lake, opposite the PwC office.
  • TINT: Block DG 1/1, Action Area 1, New Town, near Rabindra Tirtha.

B.Tech fees

  • TMSL: ₹56,200 in semester 1, then ₹41,300 to ₹51,750 a semester, about ₹4.02 lakh in total.
  • TIU: ₹79,000 every semester, ₹6.32 lakh in total.
  • TINT: set as per the West Bengal Higher Education Department; published figures range from about ₹5 lakh to ₹7.65 lakh depending on the branch.

CSE seats

  • TMSL: 120 in CSE and 120 in CSE (AI & ML), plus 60 each in Data Science, Cyber Security, IoT and CSBS.
  • TINT: 300 in CSE and 120 in CSE (AI & ML), plus 60 each in Data Science, Cyber Security, IoT, CSBS and CS & IT.
  • TIU: 60 in CSE, 60 in CSBS and 30 in CSE (AI).

WBJEE cut-off for CSE

  • TMSL: closed at about rank 8,700 in round 1 of WBJEE 2025 and about 10,500 in the last round (General, All India).
  • TINT: closed close to rank 99,000 in the final round of WBJEE 2025 (General, All India).
  • TIU: fewer seats; check the latest WBJEEB opening and closing ranks before you fill choices.

Placements

  • TMSL: 96% placed in 2023, highest CTC ₹29 LPA, average ₹7.5 LPA (TMSL placements 2023).
  • TINT: 82% placed in 2024, highest CTC ₹22 LPA, average ₹5 LPA (TINT placements 2024).
  • TIU: 89% placed in 2022, highest CTC ₹32 LPA (Amazon), average ₹4 LPA.

TMSL vs TINT

This is the comparison most WBJEE students face. TMSL wins on demand, fees and average package: it costs about ₹4.02 lakh for the full B.Tech and reported a ₹7.5 LPA average in 2023, which is why its CSE seats fill up around rank 10,000. TINT is the safer choice for a wider range of ranks thanks to its 300 CSE seats, and it reported a ₹5 LPA average with 82% placement in 2024. If your rank is good enough for TMSL CSE, most students pick TMSL; if not, many students who want a software career prefer TINT CSE to a core branch at TMSL.

Techno India University vs Techno Main Salt Lake

They are not the same institution. TIU is a private university with its own degrees, while TMSL is a MAKAUT-affiliated college. TMSL costs less (about ₹4.02 lakh against ₹6.32 lakh), has many more seats and a higher reported average package, so it is the first choice for most students with a good WBJEE rank. TIU suits students who prefer a university setting in Salt Lake, want branches such as Biotechnology, or cannot get their branch at TMSL.

Techno India University vs Techno International New Town

TIU's B.Tech fee (₹6.32 lakh) sits within TINT's published range, and both report placement above 80%. TINT has a much bigger intake and reported a higher average (₹5 LPA in 2024 against TIU's ₹4 LPA in 2022), while TIU offers a Salt Lake address and a university degree. Compare the latest closing ranks for your branch in both before deciding.

Which one should you choose?

  • WBJEE rank around 10,000 or better: TMSL CSE or CSE (AI & ML).
  • Rank too high for TMSL CSE: TINT CSE or one of its CSE specialisations.
  • You want a university degree in Salt Lake, or Biotechnology: Techno India University.
  • Tight budget: TMSL on a counselling seat; ask about TFW (Tuition Fee Waiver) seats if your family income qualifies.
