The Asansol Engineering College has a strict policy of zero tolerance towards ragging, rule violations, and
misconduct. The institute follows and complies with the regulations set forth by the University Grants Commission
6JGC) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), which can be found on the UGO website
(www.uge.ac.ip) and the AICTE website (wvi’.yziictc-indiaprg) The UGC has issued a document titled
“Summary Of UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace Of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009,” in
response to the judgment Of the Hon’ble Supreme Court Of India on May 8, 2009, in Civil NO. 887/2m9.
Additionally, the UGC released the “Curbing the Menace Of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions (Third
Amendment) Regulations, 2016” on June 29, 2016. Asansol Engineering College strictly abides by these
regulations. Here are the summarized practices and regulations in place to address the issue Of raggingl. Objective:
The institute’s objective is to completely eradicate all forms of ragging. This is by prohibiting
ragging through these regulations, preventing its occurrence, and punishment on those involved in
O
ragging, as specified in the regulations and the applicable law.
2. Definition and Acts of Ragging:
The Honourable Supreme Court Of India has provided a comprehensive definition of ragging as follows:
“Ragging is any disorderly conduct, whether through spoken or written words Or through acts, that involves
teasing, treating, Or handling a student rudely. It includes rowdy or undisciplined activities that cause
annoyance, hardship, psychological harm, fear, or apprehension in a fresher or junior student, resulting in
shame or embarrassment that adversely affects their psyche.
